The Island is a complex ecosystem of lakes, forests and sand formations, with long uninterrupted sweeps of ocean beach, cliffs of coloured sand, spectacular dunes, tall rainforests growing on sand and half of the world's perched lakes.  Provided by University of the Sunshine Coast, this free App is the ideal online and offline guide for students, researchers and visitors to explore, learn and connect with the universal values of K’gari-Fraser Island.  Download the App before travel to the Island for off-line access to maps, detailed itineraries and points of interest, educational information and travel and safety advice.  Learn how wind, sand, water and plants work together in an endless cycle to create this unique island.  • Links to decades of the USC Fraser Island Research Archive, an impressive collection of photographs, correspondence, manuscripts, oral histories, records and research on the Island.  Use the app to help identify and find out more about the Island’s birds, plants and wildlife, including rare and significant species that have adapted to its unique ecosystems.  • Connect with organisations dedicated to helping preserve the Island and its environmental heritage.  There is limited connectivity on the island and many locations may have weak or no cellular signal.  Select from a range of self-guided walk and drive itineraries to explore many of these outstanding natural wonders.  This App requires a connection to either a Wi-Fi or cellular data network in order access the most up-to-date information.  Understand how fragile and important this World Heritage icon is, and how to play a part in caring for it.  Help expand the knowledge of its natural values to ensure they are understood and protected.  • Discover how you can engage with the Island’s environment through Citizen science.
