Pan-Asian Resuscitation Outcomes Study (PAROS) has reported that in Malaysia, the median time of the call to 999 after an arrest is 19.0 minutes and the median time for emergency medical services (EMS) to arrive at the scene is 17.4 minutes.  MyResQ is led by an experienced team of emergency physicians and clinicians determined to help reduce the death and disability statistics caused by cardiac arrest.  Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) is a major global public health issue, with millions dying of sudden cardiac arrest every year.  Their chance of survival with intact neurologic function increases if the bystanders provide immediate cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).  The key treatment of OHCA is the ‘chain of survival’, which comprises early recognition, immediate CPR, rapid defibrillation, basic and advanced EMS intervention, and post-resuscitation care.  We have started a novel approach via mobile application technology to activate nearby rescuers to reduce the emergency response duration.  More than half of OHCAs occur without any witness, and in Malaysia, only 22.6% of the population received bystander cardiopulmonary resuscitation.  When someone experiences cardiac arrest, their heart has completely stopped beating.  The 30-day survival rate is 10.5% when CPR is performed before EMS arrival versus 4.0% when CPR is not performed before EMS arrival.  Worldwide data shows that 68.8% of OHCA occurs at home and about 15% at the workplace.  Our team seek to champion this cause which could save more lives.
